Day 1 (again)—Toronto to Sarnia ON.

After yesterday’s adventures, we decided to take the bike to the shop. Devin drove it over, arriving 5 minutes before it opened, and waited an hour for them to look at it. Tom said that Devin should come back later, but he would get a chance to look at it today. So, Devin came back to the house, where I was looking up campsites for all the possibilities of how far we would get if we left today. Five minutes after Devin arrived, the phone rang and Tom had the bike hoisted. Tom said that there was nothing wrong with the bike and that the brake drag was normal. Sigh. The brake cleaner must have worked overnight!

So around 1pm, we had the bike packed up and left on our grand adventure! Finally, we broke the limits of the GTA. Hooray! 272 kilometres later, we find ourselves just outside of Sarnia, in a nice campsite, waiting to cross the border. After all that planning, we are in a campsite not on our map or in our plan. Tomorrow, we hope to be 500 kms down the road, in Angola, Indiana, but we shall see how it goes.

Today didn’t go off without a hitch, we had a droopy mirror and awful chlorinated water, but all in all, we are happy and totally excited to be heading off.
