Day 5—Monett, Missouri to Hinton, Oklahoma

We made it to Red Rock State Park! It’s very striking! Plan to walk around a bit tomorrow

The ride here was windy, especially through Oklahoma City. Big open spaces and overpass bridges are not fun in this kind of gusty wind. It was the hardest ride yet, but we made it and that’s all that really matters.

As Devin says, the wind today was awful. In the morning, the skies were clear and the air was nice and cool. It made it hard to even look around, but the country we were going through was beautiful. It was super lush and green, and as we went farther south, more and more trees are leafed and the spring flowers are farther along. Although we got in late, the park we are in is amazing. It is a canyon in the middle of flat plains, with warm red rocks and a small creek. We didn’t do any exploring tonight because we were both exhausted from the wind, but plan to do some tomorrow before we head out.

  1. I love your photos (you're getting brave Lauren taking them as you are riding), but not so much the descriptions of wind and snow storms!! Mom/Joan

  2. Wow, serious mileage! Very commendable. I can almost feel the wind and smell the smells. Live to Ride. Live the Dream. Awesome!
