Day 37 – Winnipeg, Manitoba to Aaron Lake Provincial Park, Ontario

Today we started into Ontario and the Canadian Shield. Ontario is huge! We left a bit late after a great sleep-in and finding a CAA in order to get the Eastern Canada camping book. We headed out of Winnipeg, where it was already getting hot, and took the TransCanada to the Ontario border. We were both moving slowly, and got very bored with the drive. Manitoba was nice, but once we got into the trees, it was a straight shot lined by trees. Oh well! We stopped at Eagle Lake for lunch (with extremely crummy service), and then headed on our way.

Just off the highway, we headed into Aaron Lake Provincial Park, which is beautiful! We picked a campsite right on the lake with a beautiful view of the water. There were lots of bugs (stupid things), but we enjoyed ourselves, walking, sitting on the dock, and relaxing in spite of them!

We arrived at Aaron Lake sometime after 5pm. We have only been traveling for 5 hours and haven’t done our regular 500km, but it was time to stop. Both of us were getting bored.

It is amazing to me that I can get bored on a motorbike. I have heard stories of people falling asleep on a bike. I thought that impossible until today.

Yesterday was hard, not only were there lots of bugs, but the wind was bad. It was strong enough to put a kink in my neck.

This was kind of a recovery day.
